The state of Hawaii is unique in the United States as we are an isolated chain of islands in the middle of the ocean. We face challenges and potential emergencies from both natural and man-made sources, and our geography creates challenges for dealing with such emergencies. In the Safety & Crisis Management breakout you will have the opportunity to discuss these types of emergencies and ways to prepare for and/or respond to them.

For example: Do you think that our emergency management system should prepare a more diverse notification system for a variety of emergencies? Do you think that more preparedness education and training should be available to communities? Do you think that current emergency response plans are adequate, or should they be updated? This breakout is an opportunity for you to discuss these and similar concerns for community safety in Hawaii.
